Why you prepare for war, soldier boy (or girl)?
- A Europe powered by cheap Russian energy and integrated with Russian resources would create an economic powerhouse entirely independent of Washington. Breaking this connection permanently re-tethers Europe to the Atlantic.
- Prior to the escalation, US opposition to European-Russian integration was overt. The US actively sanctioned the Nord Stream 2 pipeline for years under both the Trump and Biden administrations [1, 2]. The stated goal was to stop European energy dependence on Moscow, but the structural reality was to open the market for US energy exports. By expanding NATO up to Russia's borders, the US created a classic structural tripwire; when Russia bit the bait, the US successfully locked the EU into a permanent defense panic, forcing them to bankrupt their own strategic autonomy.
- Ultimately, morality is removed from the equation and the EU is forced to ensure Russia's defeat as a matter of pure self-preservation. The EU cannot afford to look at the fairness of Russia's motives, nor can it afford to debate the decline of American power, because the cost of a Russian victory is the liquidation of the European project itself.
So that would be great, I think, to help glue this thing and have the U.N. help glue it and you know... fuck the EU.
